About the role

  • This role focuses on both routine and project-based cleaning, including deep cleaning, floor and carpet care, light pressure washing, and supporting work requests through the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform deep cleaning and restorative projects, including hard floor care, carpet cleaning, and pressure washing. Complete routine cleaning tasks for assigned areas in compliance with cleanliness standards established for Custodial Specialist I roles.
  • Identify and submit work requests to address any deficiencies found during inspections or regular duties. Provide training and support to team members on Standard Operating Procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols as needed.
  • The Housekeeping Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Custodial Specialist II to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient campus environment.

Requirements

  • Applicants claiming preference are responsible for providing required documentation by the closing date of the position.
  • Gather appropriate supplies and equipment for each project, such as those required for hard floor or carpet care.

Nice to have

  • 2+ years of previous work experience in a custodial or similar role with a focus on floor care.
  • Knowledge of floor care process for hard surfaces including pressure washing, stripping, and restorative practices.
  • Ability to use small and large tools required for essential tasks (floor care equipment, mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.).
  • Proficiency with standard office software applications and devices for work order systems (IWMS).
  • Capable of operating a fleet vehicle as necessary.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension, and organizing.
  • The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Skills

  • The position also involves assisting with training new staff and requires strong attention to detail, independence, and technical skills.

Compensation

  • is determined in alignment with UCF's pay structure and internal equity considerations.
  • This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
  • New hires selected for this position at the University of Central Florida can expect to be offered the base salary amount for the role.
  • Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
