About the role

  • The projects may involve sensitive political or environmental concerns, project coordination with property owners, dry utility companies, and local county and state agencies.
  • The Construction Administrator works for the Timmons Group Project Manager as the project transitions from approval to bidding.
  • The position receives direction from the Sr.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction contract documents so that the project can be bid/negotiated with a contractor
  • Maintain, review and respond as necessary to all project documents including RFI's, material submittals, as-built plans, contractor pay requisitions and change orders
  • Visit construction sites and document pertinent observations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Construction schedule building and review of contractors proposed schedules

Requirements

  • Construction Administrator or Design Project Manager, however, will be required to make independent decisions and communications with external parties.
  • Professional Registration is beneficial, but not required
  • Working knowledge of office software (MS Word & Excel) and associated equipment
  • Considerable knowledge of drainage, grading, earthwork operation, roadway and utility construction methods, materials, standards and construction symbols and terminology
  • Working knowledge of state and federal safety, environment, and EEO/DBE guidelines and regulations
  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret civil engineering site plans, architectural plans and contract specifications
  • The ability to think logically and systematically through the various phases of a project.

Nice to have

  • Graduation from college or equivalent with a bachelor's degree, with 2+ years additional training / experience in drainage, grading, earthwork, and general site /civil land development preferred
  • A current working knowledge of prevailing market rates for major cost items (earthwork, pipe installation, site concrete, etc.) for site construction projects is a plus
  • Familiarity with VDOT Road and Bridge Standards and Construction specifications is a plus
  • Prior experience with engineering design a plus
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Working knowledge of MS Project is a plus
  • Ability to prepare CAD drawings is a plus

Compensation

  • Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000.
