  • This role will report to Dir, Supplier Quality and based in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of assessment of the capability of potential suppliers - identifies areas for improvement and deliver them on time in relation to Total Quality for selected suppliers.
  • Assess the manufacturability of new product designs and assist both engineering and suppliers with improving manufacturability. Clear focus on process capability to deliver the lowest total cost.
  • Drive supplier development / execution and deployment of manufacturing processes that meet the BE requirement.
  • Review prototype and production part quality document submissions from suppliers, for acceptability.
  • Drive conversion from documentation through product design via engineered practices to deliver consistent / predictability of parts / products.
  • Perform Supplier quality assessments at system and product level including PPAP, GR&R, GD&T.
  • Provide support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering regarding analysis and disposition of suspect supplier material.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the supply base using quality and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Lead high visibility root cause investigations by applying "8D" problem solving to timely conclusion for all identified / potential areas for opportunities to occur
  • May drive Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEA/PFMEA); using the output to assess and improve targeted product designs and/or processes.

Requirements

  • Strong demonstrated leadership skills to drive the team(s) to meet the required goals at senior levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Statistical tools such as JMP, R, and Tableau / similar visualization applications.

Nice to have

  • ASQ-certified CQE and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Practical working knowledge and application of SPC including ability to train peers and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in the application of DOEs and ANOVA.
  • Flexibility within a rapidly changing, dynamic working environment.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and sound judgment on technical projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Possesses a bias for action and an ability to multitask in a zero-defect environment
  • Highly customer-focused (both externally and internally).
  • Ability to travel 20%

Skills

  • Must be able to establish demonstrated technical credibility with the Engineering Staff (internally and with suppliers).
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated Quality Management System auditing experience / accreditation
  • Ability to effectively participate / contribute value add on multi-disciplinary teams.

Compensation

  • $151,700.00 - $218,300.00
