About the role
- The Assistant Director is a key member of the professional team responsible for implementing Hillel's strategic vision of Jewish life on campus.
- This person works closely with all Hillel of San Diego staff and is responsible for managing all student facing programming and engagement at University of California San Diego.
Responsibilities
- Develop meaningful relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they're at, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them.
- Identity potential student leaders and work with them to develop leadership skills and strategic thinking
- Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of students.
- Manage the programming budget
- Ensure Hillel is an indispensable partner to the university by develop relationships with university officials, faculty, and student government committees relating to Hillel's interests
- Build strong coalitions with other organizations and cultural centers on campus.
- You're a leader who works well to create consensus within teams.
- You thrive in the details of event and program planning, balancing creativity, hospitality, and execution to create experiences people want to come back to.
- You're a critical thinker who embraces data and knowledge to develop solutions to problems.
- Great professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities
Requirements
- You understand social media and have strong computer literacy skills, including GSuite proficiency.
Compensation
- Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace.
- The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000.

- Facilitate Jewish learning and ritual observance when appropriate
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to staff and student leaders to design and facilitate meaningful shabbat and holiday experiences
- Supervise and support engagement staff (currently Springboard Jewish Learning Fellow and Israel Fellow)
