Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement state tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions.
  • Manage state income tax audits, including responding to information requests, negotiating settlements, and minimizing audit adjustments.
  • Provide training and support to junior staff members
  • Manage staff deliverables in accordance with due dates on tax calendar and overall tax department objectives
  • Actively seek & design process improvements related to all compliance & tax accounting activities

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for State & Local income tax compliance, planning and audits.
  • This role requires a deep understanding of state tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

  • Work with other members of the tax department to coordinate completion of all required forms.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or MST certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in state income tax compliance and planning, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.

Skills

  • Solid theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of state and local income tax laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and quantify the financial impact of state tax issues.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting.
  • Strong technology skills, Corptax software experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.

Compensation

  • The pay range for this position is $81,800.00 - $139,200.00.
  • Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $100,000.00 to $110,000.00.
  • The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
