About the role

  • The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, process development, and technical operations within a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure CNC programs, tooling strategies, setup documentation, and manufacturing processes are developed and released to production according to schedule.
  • Establish standardized engineering methodologies, machining practices, setup procedures, and tooling strategies to improve consistency and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Operations & Production Support
  • Provide leadership and oversight of CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, process development, and technical support functions.
  • Support production teams by resolving technical manufacturing challenges and driving rapid issue resolution.
  • Oversee fixture design, tooling development, process validation, and engineering change implementation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmers, and technical personnel.
  • Build a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Allocate resources effectively to balance production support requirements with strategic engineering initiatives.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and workforce capability enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain best-in-class engineering standards, programming libraries, fixture documentation, and process control methodologies.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through manufacturability assessments, process planning, and production readiness reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, or precision machining operations.
  • Proven success leading technical organizations, process improvement initiatives, and operational excellence programs.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC machining processes, multi-axis machining, tooling systems, fixturing, and manufacturing process development.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM software, including Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing standards.
  • Familiarity with automation technologies, robotics, Industry 4.0 systems, and digital manufacturing tools.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, engineering documentation control, and manufacturing planning systems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term organizational objectives with day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams within precision manufacturing, contract manufacturing, aerospace, medical, or industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and process validation activities.
  • Leadership Competencies

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • advanced degree preferred.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing setup time, cycle time, machine downtime, scrap, and operational waste.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and operational excellence programs throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, robotics, and digital manufacturing tools.
  • Establish scalable systems that improve productivity, quality, repeatability, and profitability.
  • Customer & Business Engagement
  • Serve as the engineering representative during customer audits, technical reviews, and strategic business meetings.
