  • The Company targets attractive risk-adjusted investment returns across a broad range of predominantly real estate equity and debt oriented investment strategies.
  • The Company has elected to be taxed as a real estate investment trust, or REIT, for U.S. federal income tax purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting matters, month-end close process.
  • Maintain and improve processes and timing of monthly close, analytical review of monthly operating results and accounting workbooks and ensure compliance with SOX
  • Develop and review accretion calculations, monthly accruals, monthly and quarterly reporting and cash projections.
  • Review and understand deal documents, including partnership agreements, joint venture operating agreements and loan agreements
  • The Investment Accounting Manager will maintain the Investment Accounting's general accounting practices, internal controls and financial analysis and reporting.
  • He/she will also mentor and provide hands-on training to members of the accounting team, as well as develop process efficiencies and improvements.

Requirements

  • Overtime may be required
  • Collaborate with operations to identify when hold/disposition assumptions have changed and accretion adjustments are required

Nice to have

  • 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience with minimum 3 years in public accounting
  • Real estate/REIT or financial services industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in investment management or private equity environment is desirable
  • Intermediate understanding of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, IRRs, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Positive leadership style, ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Strong analytical, operational, organizational and interpersonal aptitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation

  • Maintain and update the preparation of the company's annual budget, monitor operating results and update forecasts; provide ad hoc reporting to management
