About the role

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of engineering and customer delivery.
This role combines hands-on software development with consulting and customer success.

Work side-by-side with customer delivery leads, engineers, and UX designers to ensure successful projects delivery and deployments
Act as a trusted technical advisor to public sector partners, guiding them through standards adoption and best practices
Build backend software and full-stack web and mobile applications that meet public sector security, privacy, and accessibility standards
Manage customer deployments and support operations
SpruceID builds privacy-preserving, standards-based digital identity and credentialing solutions that give individuals control of their information while enabling governments and enterprises to deliver secure, interoperable services.
We partner with public-sector organizations to modernize how identity is issued, verified, and used.
You will work directly with state governments and other public sector partners to design, build, and deploy solutions that solve real-world identity challenges.
You will represent SpruceID on the ground with our partners, ensuring our technology is deployed effectively and with lasting impact.

5+ years of experience shipping backend software in statically typed languages, such as C#, Rust, Go, or Java.
Experience shipping modern web frontends that meet accessibility and security standards
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and devops practices
Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts and deliver production systems
Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with customers, ideally in a consulting or delivery role
Based in the US and excited to engage directly with state government partners

Strong foundation in digital identity, cryptography, data privacy, or blockchain
Prior experience working with public sector software projects

Lead the design and development of products and solutions for state governments and enterprise customers
