About the role

  • As Director of Bank Connectors, you will own the core of Trustly.
  • Bank connectivity is what Trustly is - every payment we process runs through the connections your team builds, and the reliability, coverage, and speed of that network is the foundation of our business.
  • This is a highly technical leadership role at the intersection of financial infrastructure and AI: you'll own the architecture of how Trustly connects to banks and lead the team responsible for building and scaling it.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap and execution for Trustly's bank connector infrastructure - including screen scraping, open banking APIs, bank data aggregation, and direct connectivity integrations.
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers building and maintaining bank integrations at scale
  • build observability and alerting systems that enable proactive identification and resolution of bank-side degradations.
  • Deep experience building and maintaining financial data integrations, bank APIs, or payment connectivity infrastructure - you understand the complexity and brittleness of financial institution integrations firsthand.
  • Strong interest in and working knowledge of AI-assisted development practices - experience using LLMs to accelerate development, automate testing, or build intelligent monitoring systems.
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers building and maintaining bank integrations at scale; establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and testing frameworks appropriate to high-reliability financial integrations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.

Nice to have

  • Experience with open banking standards (Plaid, MX, Finicity, or equivalent direct bank API experience) strongly preferred.
