Responsibilities
- Perform quantity, material, and labor take-offs from drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Document, archive, and organize all estimate-related information for transfer to the project team upon award.
- Coordinate with external consultants and project management organizations to develop project budgets and oversee the tender development process on behalf of clients.
- Perform post-bid analyses and assist the project management team with trade buy-out strategies on successful submissions.
- Analyze contract documents, including isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, as well as specifications for various project types (e.g., hard-bid/lump-sum, construction management, design-build) to determine overall requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.).
- Lead pricing of general expenses and project-specific requirements for medium to large projects.
- Participate in developing procurement plans, labor and equipment forecasts, logistics plans, site workflows, and project risk registers.
- Participate in design, constructability, and value engineering reviews to ensure project efficiency.
- Prepare and manage project budgets during the pre-construction phase.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience as a Cost Consultant or Estimator, covering a full range of project delivery methods, including lump sum, construction management, and design-build.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or an equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of various construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential challenges, and timelines.
- Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, subtrade contractor procurement, pricing and bid-closing procedures.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Level II Secret Government clearance.
