About the role

  • New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) helps New Yorkers before, during, and after emergencies through preparedness, education, and response.
  • NYCEM is responsible for coordinating citywide emergency planning and response for all types and scales of emergencies.
  • The Office of the COO is focused on implementing agency initiatives and strategies into daily operations to meet agency objectives and goals.

Requirements

  • During emergency activations, team members may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts in support of City response operations.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer support to be eligible for selection.
  • Note that NYCEM does not participate in eVerify, which is required for the reauthorization of some visas.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full time professional experience in the areas listed in "1" above; or

Skills

  • Experience with project management, driving projects, tracking progress, and seeing tasks to completion;
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy;
  • Comfort working with and analyzing large sets of data and presenting results that tell a clear and compelling story;
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel functions such as Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, filtering, formulas, and data analysis;
  • Experience with data visualization tools including Power BI;
  • Experience with Visio
  • Demonstrated interest in learning and applying evolving human capital technologies, policies, and best practices;
  • Familiarity with NYCAPS and CHRMS, strongly preferred;
  • Experience with human resources processes.
  • Candidates are not expected to possess every preferred qualification.
