About the role
- The Banner is looking for an ambitious journalist to cover K-12 education in Prince George's County, Maryland.
- In this role, you'll focus primarily on Prince George's County Public Schools while jumping in on breaking news and other assignments as needed.
- If you're energized by data-driven reporting and stories that make a meaningful impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with The Banner's audience and data teams to engage the audience and distribute your stories across all platforms.
- Familiarity with audience metrics, social media and SEO to drive audience growth and digital subscriptions
Requirements
- Strong writing skills and the ability to present complex topics in a conversational manner
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others
- Familiarity with public records requests and project planning
Nice to have
- Spanish fluency and familiarity with Prince George's County or Maryland are a plus

- Excellent news judgment and fact-checking skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

- $80,000 - $95,000 Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
