About the role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Safety, the Safety Officer will play a pivotal role in driving a culture of safety and excellence throughout the company and keeping up with a continually changing regulatory environment involv ing a plethora of industries.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Support management in encouraging safe work practices, including coordinating programs for safety rewards and disciplinary actions
Prepare and maintain safety records, such as inspection logs, near-miss reports, completion of training, incident inspections, Cal/OSHA reports
Support insurance renewal processes and review insurance matters at the request of the Senior Director

Must be willing to travel across the island
Must be comfortable and able to stand and walk for up to 6-8 hours per day
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Minimum 5 years of experience in workplace safety, compliance or risk management
Bachelors in occupational health or related field preferred
Maintain valid Driver's License and passing motor vehicle report for coverage under the company's authorized drivers' policy
Cal/OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification
Broad understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
Experience creating safety documentation
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and ability to learn site-specific technologies
Ability to work in a fast-paced guest service environment
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.

This role would require you to relocated and reside on Catalina Island.
The Catalina Island Company offers housing as an option for eligible employees at a subsidized rate.
Employees are responsible for paying a portion of the housing cost, typically deducted through payroll.
The pay scale for this position is $80,000 -$100,000, based upon experience.
