About the role

  • As a Registered/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.
  • Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
  • Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
  • Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with an organization approved by DHCS and obtain their AOD certification within five (5) years of registration date..
  • Counselor I: Must be registered with an organization approved by DHCS and obtain their AOD certification within five (5) years of registration date..
