About the role
- The Art and Art History Department seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a beginning level ceramics course for the fall 2026 semester.
- With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools.
- SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments.
Responsibilities
- Regularly upload and monitor class documents, assignments, and communications through Canvas
- Maintain office hours each week, at 1 hour per week per section
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom
- Observe, support and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the University and College of Arts & Sciences
Requirements
- Master's degree in studio art
- Link to personal portfolio (at least 5 works) demonstrating ability to teach ceramics
- Maintain accurate class records and class assessments required by the college
Nice to have
- Previous teaching experience (instructor of record) at the post-secondary level
- Experience with a vast array of Ceramics practices
- Knowledge of non-western practices
