About the role
- D-Wave is seeking an experienced Mechanical Production Technician II to join our Engineering and Production team.
- In this role, you will assemble, test, troubleshoot, and integrate mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, including gas handling racks, manifolds, tubing systems, and vacuum hardware used in our advanced quantum computing systems.
- Working closely with Engineering, Production, Laboratory Operations, and Supply Chain, you will help ensure products are manufactured, tested, and documented to the highest quality standards while supporting continuous improvements to manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Build, install, and troubleshoot gas handling racks, manifolds, tubing systems, vacuum hardware, and related mechanical assemblies.
- Perform pressure and vacuum testing, helium leak testing, pump servicing, and other mechanical validation activities.
- Support engineering validation builds, prototype assemblies, new product introductions (NPI), and engineering change implementations.
- Design and fabricate jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing efficiency and repeatability.
- Execute work orders and maintain accurate production, test, and traceability records.
- Develop and improve manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and test documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to resolve manufacturing issues and improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Maintain production equipment, tools, and test fixtures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Provide general production and laboratory support as needed.

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience assembling complex mechanical or electromechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with soldering, crimping, wire management, and mechanical assembly techniques.
- This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with cryogenic systems, high-vacuum systems, or vacuum pump maintenance.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites or company facilities, as needed.
