About the role
- The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral appointee in experimental condensed matter physics.
- Although exceptional candidates in all areas of experimental condensed matter physics will be considered, particular emphasis will be placed on the dynamical studies of 2D materials and their functionalities.
- This postdoctoral position is supported by a DOE-funded research program on ultrafast science involving Argonne National Laboratory, University of Washington, and MIT.
Requirements
- Candidates can be currently enrolled to apply, but must have proof of degree conferral by the position start date.
Nice to have
- A strong background in condensed matter physics and materials science is required.
- Research experiences in ultrafast science is preferred, such as in applying time-resolved microscopy / spectroscopy, scattering technique for quantum material research using advanced optical and THz techniques.
- Ability to analyze and understand complex data set is required.
- Experience to lead ultrafast x-ray scattering or electron scattering experiments is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
