About the role

  • This position reports to the Assistant Director, Projects & Relations and works closely with staff in all areas of the Museum as well as the IIP Steering Group.
  • Works with MOA staff to identify internal placement supervisors.
  • Works with MOA staff to make linkages with other relevant training programs in Canada, and other applicable career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • The Indigenous Internship Program provides training opportunities for people working in museums and cultural heritage management or people who seek to build a career in the sector.
  • The Lead also works with the IIP Steering Group (External) and the MOA IIP Working Group (Internal) to develop the policies, processes and procedures relating to intern recruitment, intake and evaluation.
  • Manages interns and provides primary supervision, guidance and support.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience working with Indigenous people and communities.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of and sensitivity towards Indigenous cultural heritage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy.
  • Organizational skills, time management.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including Steering Committee, MOA working groups, partnering Nations and BC institutions.
  • Ability to mentor and coach staff, and act as a resource.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively coordinate tasks.
  • Ability to gather, record, and organize information.

Compensation

  • $5,526.42 - $7,941.25 CAD Monthly The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.
  • In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
  • Please note that the compensation will be prorated accordingly.
