About the role

  • Location Status: Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00a to 7:00p.
  • Work will be primarily performed at a designated field worksite location based out of a central Race Communications worksite.
  • At Race, relationships matter as much as speed.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to team procedures and guidelines, as well as policies outlined in the Race Communications Employee Handbook. • Provides support in identifying training needs and supports professional development initiatives to enhance team skills and performance.
  • The Lead may assist in tasks related to supervision on behalf of the reporting supervisor or manager on duty, such as coordinating task assignments, timing of shift breaks, validating mid-level transactions, and escalating disciplinary and performance matters.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the field technician team. Lead and guide a team of field technicians to ensure efficient execution of tasks and projects.
  • Provides technical expertise and troubleshooting support for complex telecom issues
  • Conducts quality checks and audits to maintain service excellence
  • Provides support in identifying training needs and supports professional development initiatives to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Helps onboard and mentor new team members to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Provides support to team members on various team matters, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Collaborates with team members to maintain a positive work environment by fostering open communication, addressing minor conflicts, and escalating issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications field operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Proven technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment and services
  • Ability to work offset shifts, which include Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00a to 7:00p
  • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication
  • Manages equipment inventory, ensuring availability and proper maintenance of tools, test equipment, and materials required for field operations
  • Maintains vehicle/equipment pre-op/post-op to be prepared to perform required duties
  • May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed
  • Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines outlined in the Race employee handbook and job description to promote a safe work environment Additional duties as required.

  • Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck, excavators, and trencher
  • Climbs poles up to 40 feet and operates in bucket trucks with 32' plus ladders-Aerial ONLY

  • Qualifications and Experience: • Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship • Minimum of 21 years of age • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred • A valid California driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications field operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role • Proven technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment and services • Ability to work offset shifts, which include Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00a to 7:00p • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support emergency response, outage restoration, and urgent maintenance for 24/7 operations • Proficiency in Spanish Language a plus • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication • Proficiency in Spanish Language is desirable
