About the role

  • By combining global corporate cards and banking with intuitive spend management, bill pay, and travel software, Brex enables founders and finance teams to accelerate operations, gain real-time visibility, and control spend effortlessly.
  • You will also be a key advisor on accounting implications of product launches and other complex transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy for regulated entity reporting, ensuring 100% compliance with evolving regulations
  • Iterate and develop GAAP accounting policies and support high-impact business initiatives such as post-merger integration and product launches
  • Establish and maintain a robust library of corporate accounting policies
  • lead the implementation of new FASB/ SEC standards
  • Lead the design and maturation of an internal control environment in preparation for integration with Capital One's financial reporting standards and SOX requirements
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal and other teams to provide proactive accounting for new product launches and business model changes
  • Identify and deliver process improvements via automation, AI initiatives and cross functional collaboration
  • You will be responsible for building a world-class reporting function that meets the rigor of a public company and aligns with the global accounting policies of Capital One.
  • The Financial Reporting Director is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.
  • Establish and maintain a robust library of corporate accounting policies; lead the implementation of new FASB/ SEC standards

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • 10+ years of experience, including significant time at a Big 4 accounting firm and/or leadership role in high-growth companies
  • Ability to translate complex accounting jargon into actionable insights for non-finance counterparts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and address difficult situations in a professional manner
  • Experience implementing and improving business processes and systems
  • Knowledge and experience using DFIN, Workiva or similar financial reporting platforms
  • Experience operating within a public company environment
  • Advanced proficiency in data analytics and a product mindset toward accounting systems
  • Direct experience applying AI to streamline the financial reporting or research process

Compensation

  • The expected salary range for this role is $252,216- $315,270.
  • However, the starting base pay will depend on several factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.
  • Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package
  • As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!
