About the role
- The Assistant Director will direct large-scale field abatement activities occurring simultaneously across multiple developments and apartments citywide.
- include, but are not limited to, the following: 1.
- Direct field staff and contractors assigned to apartment-based and development-wide abatement projects, including work involving resident-occupied units, vacant units, common areas, and other NYCHA spaces.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily field operations of the Abatement Field Operations Unit, including supervision of field supervisors, inspectors, skilled trades, contractors, and vendor personnel performing abatement-related work.
- Ensure that proper containment, worksite preparation, clearance coordination, waste handling, safety procedures, and lead-safe work practices are implemented and maintained at all active abatement sites.
- Provide technical guidance and operational direction to field staff on abatement procedures, construction sequencing, safety requirements, lead-safe work practices, and field problem-solving.
- Coordinate with the Abatement Admin Unit to ensure field information is accurately communicated for scheduling, reporting, contract tracking, invoicing support, procurement follow-up, and executive updates.
