About the role

  • As our R&D Machinist I, you will be at the forefront of our company's critical operations in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot multi-axis CNC mills (3, 4, 5-axis) and/or live tooling lathes for development hardware and test fixtures

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring on parts as necessary
  • You will take ownership of prototyping, machining and assembly operations, ensuring attention to detail and proper documentation as we develop next-generation nuclear systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand G-code, engineering drawings, GD&T
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Think probabilistically and then take action. "If you want to be certain, then you are apt to be obsolete." Over-optimizing the components often degrades the system
  • If you can't make it, find a teammate who can channel your intentions and go in your place.

  • Preferred Skills & Experience:

Skills

  • Experience with machining stainless steel, exotic alloys (Inconel), and/or graphite
  • Experience operating Fanuc CNC controllers
  • Able to read and modify G-code based on the fly based on machine performance
  • Experience working in an R&D machining environment
  • Experience working with a quality system (AS9100, ISO 9001, NQA1, or similar)
  • Able to balance/adjust priorities based on dynamic schedule demands
  • Monitor, replace, and re-set cutting tools
