About the role

  • Ensures lowest cost transportation by analyzing company and customer needs, researching transportation methods and auditing carrier costs and performances.
  • May interpret laws, rules and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.
  • Plans and coordinates fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, and disposal of trucks, and hires and/or interacts with common carriers (third-party transportation companies) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • MANAGEMENT SCOPE/BREADTH: Supervises team members who perform either a single task, or multiple but closely related tasks.
  • Coordinates and consolidates domestic and international systems to support shipments.
  • May maintain logs and compile information on routes, rates and services on various vendors.
  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a team or like teams of employees in the professional, business support and/or operations support career streams
  • Manages activities of a team that range from routine to moderately complex; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
  • Supervises team members who perform either a single task, or multiple but closely related tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be willing/able to fill in for van DPs
