About the role

  • Our dedicated team here is responsible for maintaining and servicing the HVAC mechanical and related control systems for multiple buildings across the site.
  • We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting and/or replacement of HVAC controls systems (BAS systems) and related mechanical equipment
  • Test and perform modifications to systems software when needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting and/or replacement of HVAC controls systems (BAS systems) and related mechanical equipment; most work will involve Johnson Controls Metasys and Distech controls
  • We are seeking an HVAC Controls Technician (Building Automation Technician) to join our Federal Systems team based at the Washington Navy Yard.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with HVAC Controls (Direct Digital Controls), VAV's, VRF's, or other related systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems, HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances and/or badges as required to perform site duties. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)
  • Experience with BAS communication protocols including at least one of the following: BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, and/or LON
  • Conduct self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines

Nice to have

  • Technical knowledge and experience working with Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, or Distech Direct Digital Control (DDC) system
  • Programming and/or troubleshooting various brands of HVAC controls products is highly desired (Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Carrier, ALC, Andover)
  • BAS communication protocols including at least one of the following:
  • BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, and/or LON
  • Experience using SMP, SCT, and/or CCT
  • Technical Schooling, Bachelor's Degree, or Associate's Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical systems, Computer technology, HVAC, or a related field, or relevant experience.

Compensation

  • $43.00 - $58.00 per hour. Negotiable based on experience. (Non-Union) Company Vehicle: Yes Shift: Day shift, primarily 6:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation per calendar year
