Responsibilities
- Review, examine, and interpret development project applications and construction documents to determine compliance with municipal codes and requirements.
- Research land use, development history, zone lots, and permits to support code analysis and plan review.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including potential redeployment in citywide emergency situations.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide professional support to internal and external stakeholders both in person and over the phone
- City and County of Denver e mployees may be re-deployed to work in other capacities in their own agencies or in other city agencies to support core functions of the city during a citywide emergency declared by the Mayor.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience applying codes and regulations to zoning and/or construction projects through inspection, investigation, design, and/or plan review.
- Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
- Applicants for employment with the City and County of Denver must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.
- Prepare plan review notices identifying deficiencies and outlining required corrections to ensure compliance.
- Identify required permits, licenses, approvals, guidelines, ordinances, and standards for each project.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and related business software

- Obtain the ICC Fire Plans Examiner (F3) certification within 1 year after date of hire (The Denver Fire Department will sponsor this certification and all Continuing Education requirements)
- Experience with Accela Fire Prevention Solutions or interest in learning new software
- Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Education and Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
