About the role

  • The LSS works with SAS/Tutoring administration and staff to ensure efficient program operations, including scheduling, providing information, and taking part in outreach activities as needed.
  • The LSS tutors are in an area of academic credentials and expertise, usually for introductory courses, in person, one-on-one or in small groups, to help students attain a deeper and more substantial command of the assigned subject matter.
  • Applications accepted in a variety of subject areas; position filled as needs arise.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree, Academic or professional certification, or higher degree in academic field of expertise.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

  • The LSS must be able to work with others present in a shared space.

Compensation

  • Supplements students' understanding and command of the course material for which students seek assistance, outside of class.
  • Tutors for introductory courses in the discipline area of expertise only.
  • Meets with students at appointed time.
  • Assists with daily operations of the Tutoring Center.
  • Maintains documentation of all tutoring sessions.
  • Generates reports for tutoring and maintains documentation of department tutoring interactions.
