About the role

  • As a state of Ohio licensed Stationary Steam Engineer, this position is responsible for processes associated with the plant including high-pressure boiler and steam turbine operations and steam system water testing.
  • The Stationary Steam Engineer is responsible for the environmental sound operations and maintenance of all plant processing equipment.
  • Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant including high-pressure boiler and steam turbine operations.

  • Maintain all biorefinery equipment including, but not limited to: centrifuges, pumps, motors, gearboxes minor electrical systems, PLC's, heat exchangers, compressors, grain handling equipment and fans or blowers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer license as required by the plant where team member is located.
  • Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
  • You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operations of a bioprocessing facility.
  • Interpersonal skills. ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels within/outside the organization
  • Team members in this position are required to learn and maintain knowledge of the process, hazards associated with the process, and have the ability to execute standard operating procedures.
  • Team member must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed.
  • Two years of experience with fabrication, welding, torching, cutting, gearbox repair, pump alignment, boiler and turbine operations and water chemistry, material handling systems, preventative maintenance, instrument and electrical work preferred.

Nice to have

  • One year steam plant operating experience required, 2 years preferred.
  • Experience in a production environment preferred.

Skills

  • Learn and operate DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant.
  • Learn and perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and batching.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication tools (logs, One-note).
  • Remove, install, rebuild, lubricate and clean all equipment associated with plant processes.
  • Utilization of Maximo for tracking of parts inventory and maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections as directed.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
