About the role
- Responsible for overall quality, efficiency, and safety in the performance of assigned technical duties.
- Knowledgeable of Laboratory Information System and computer downtime procedure.
- Assists in teaching students in the assigned areas as well as training and orientation of new employees.
Responsibilities
- Performs, reviews, and reports complex laboratory tests in accordance with prescribed procedures according to standards set by FDA, CAP, AABB, GDHR and The Joint Commission.
- Consults with technical lead, clinical specialist, supervisor, manager, or pathologist, when necessary, on unusual or abnormal results.
- Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.
- Helps maintain appropriate supply inventory/restocks workstation.
- Supports and maintains a positive work environment following lab and hospital procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality Communicates effectively with peers.
- Effectively processes workload in a timely manner, organizes workstation, operates, and maintains equipment in assigned area Correctly analyzes, performs maintenance, correctly troubleshoots all testing and QC problems following standard laboratory operating procedures.
Requirements
- Must be able to use visual acuity to see monitor screen, computer, and hard copy materials.
- Must be able to hear and verbally communicate in person and over the phone or radio.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (up to 2 hours).
