About the role

  • Summary: The Denver Post is seeking a part-time breaking news reporter to work at least one weekend shift and an early morning shift.

Requirements

  • The successful applicant must be able to juggle multiple assignments and make good decisions about what subjects to tackle first.
  • The ability to source and monitor multiple streams of information -- from police to competitors -- is a must, as is the ability to write quick, clear, accurate and engaging stories and headlines.
  • Reporting, writing and editing skills, including knowledge of AP style
  • Knowledge of digital storytelling methods
  • Ability to cultivate sources
  • Knowledge of analytics and how to use them in decision making
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly to meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to submit and pass the necessary required checks

Compensation

  • The hourly wage is $28.68 + cell stipend and mileage reimbursement.
  • Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
