About the role
- The Advanced Medical Instrument Technician Vascular is in Surgical Service's Non-Invasive Vascular Lab at the Phoenix VA Health Care System.
- It is responsible for daily lab operations under the Vascular Lab Technologist Supervisor and Chief of Vascular Surgery, managing workflow and reporting critical findings.
- May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Responsibilities
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are also desirable.
- This role uses independent clinical judgment to evaluate patients with suspected aortic, renal, mesenteric, peripheral arterial, and venous disease and perform complex diagnostic testing.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience comparable to the next lower GS-8 grade level, which is directly related to the duties of the position to be filled, and must fully meet the KSAs at that level.
- Ability to provide Doppler information of peripheral vessels
- Ability to operate the instruments to extract the highest quality image utilizing the appropriate transducer frequency, Doppler angle, focal zones, gain, depth, color map, wall filter, and sample volume.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at varying grade levels. *Ability to provide, or provide for, staff development and training.
Compensation
- $79k-$103k
