About the role

  • The Physical Oceanography Model Inventory Coordinator will identify physical oceanography models throughout the Gulf of America region, determine the capabilities of each of the models, and develop a robust inventory of the models that exist.
  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development of an inventory of physical oceanography models to support Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) partner, the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) Support on the GCOOS administrative team and participate in remote and in-person (if possible) meetings and events in the Gulf region and participate in joint GCOOS/MASGC project meetings Develop a comprehensive technical report of the physical oceanography model inventory and work with the GCOOS team to develop a web interface that shares the same information Help distribute the final technical report and meet all reporting requirements Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • They will work closely with the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System program and Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium to identify sources of models and develop the inventory.
  • They will also develop products to make the inventory easily accessible and understandable to modelers, forecasters, researchers and others.

Requirements

  • Special Instructions to Applicants Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.
  • The selected candidate must also be eligible to obtain and maintain the credentials required for access to Stennis Space Center.
