  • This role is responsible for managing field crews, coordinating installation activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, maintaining a safe work environment, and driving projects to successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field crews, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
  • Interpret piping blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and project documents to ensure proper installation and system performance.
  • Develop work plans, sequencing, and manpower strategies to maximize productivity and meet project milestones.
  • Ensure proper availability of plans, materials, tools, equipment, and manpower to support project execution.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, General Contractors, vendors, and other trades to maintain workflow and resolve field conflicts.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and support Upchurch's safety culture by enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while promoting housekeeping standards across all job sites.
  • Track labor productivity, material usage, and project performance to help control costs and maintain schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the piping, pipefitting, or mechanical construction trade.
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory or superintendent experience on commercial mechanical construction projects.
  • Proven experience managing commercial piping installations from project start-up through completion.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and coordination with multiple trades.
  • Proven ability to supervise multiple foremen and large field labor forces.
  • Proficiency with construction documentation, reporting, and project tracking.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical piping systems, including hydronic, chilled water, heating water, steam, process piping, domestic water, sanitary waste, and medical gas systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schedules, and technical documents.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and productivity.
