Assist with developing, testing, and improving control logic for manufacturing equipment and automation systems
Support troubleshooting of Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other industrial control devices
Help connect and validate communication between PLCs, networked devices, and plant systems
Support industrial networking activities such as device configuration, connectivity checks, and communication troubleshooting
Document programming changes, test results, and troubleshooting steps for automation projects
This internship is designed for someone at the beginning of their engineering career who wants to build practical skills in Allen-Bradley PLCs, industrial networking, and Inductive Automation Ignition.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to support automation projects, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to improvements in manufacturing processes.

Currently pursuing or have completed an associate's or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and operations teams
At Trane Technologies, you'll join a collaborative manufacturing engineering team and gain hands-on experience with real production equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Exposure to Inductive Automation Ignition, SCADA, or HMI development through coursework, projects, or prior experience
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, or similar industrial automation software
Basic knowledge of industrial communication concepts such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, TCP/IP, RS232, or RS485
Experience with sensors, actuators, relays, and other control system components
Exposure to manufacturing, maintenance, controls, or automation-related projects
Experience with technical documentation, data collection, and basic analysis
Familiarity with programming or scripting tools such as Python is a plus
How PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks are used in a large-scale manufacturing environment
