About the role
- This position is responsible for transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions
- ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition
- and ensuring the safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from buses/vehicles
Responsibilities
- written support and/or conveying information
- Develops communications skills to communicate with parents, students, teachers, administrators, other drivers, dispatchers, etc for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information
- Drives non-CDL vehicles to transport students to/from school in a safe and timely manner
- Fuels assigned vehicle (eg oil, water, fuel, etc) to maintain the vehicle in a safe operating condition
- Performs pre-trip inspections (eg fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, exterior conditions, etc) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and meeting state requirements
- Maintains assigned vehicles
- Maintains assigned vehicles; both interior and exterior (e.g. performing vandalism checks, cleaning floors/windows/seats, etc) to ensure safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle
- Performs nonviolent crisis prevention intervention techniques and restraints for the purpose of de-escalating crisis situations to provide the best care, welfare, safety, and security for all
- Maintains the ability to perform the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent's, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
