About the role
- Rhino + Jetty is making housing more affordable and accessible for millions of renters each year.
- The Actuary will be a member of R+ J's Risk team and will report directly to our Senior Director of Risk.
- Our goal is to ensure each employee is paid equitably and competitively while also maintaining a consistent and standardized methodology.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with Underwriting to oversee the design and enhancement of pricing and underwriting models to achieve strategic business objectives
- Develop and present analysis to external insurance companies to support relationship management and strategic alignment
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure robust data pipelines, quality, and accessibility, enabling scalable and reliable actuarial infrastructure
- Synthesize your work to effectively communicate the core takeaways and recommendations for the executive team and external insurance partners
- R + J is the market-leading real estate platform dedicated to improving the financial lives of renters and the property managers who support them.
- Collaborate with Compliance team to lead state rate filing and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across jurisdictions
- Remote-first work culture with opportunities to collaborate as a team in person
Nice to have
- 5-8 years of professional actuarial experience in the P&C insurance industry, with demonstrated expertise in pricing and product development
- FCAS strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in scripting language and statistical software (e.g. SQL, Python)
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)
- Familiarity with DOI requirements across multiple states
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with experience managing projects and mentoring analysts
- Resourceful, innovative thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoys solving strategic actuarial challenges
Compensation
- Rhino + Jetty has partnered with a number of compensation benchmarking tools to determine competitive and fair market pay bands for our size and stage.
- Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors including qualifications for the role, experience level and balancing internal equity relative to other teammates.
- Base salary is just one part of our Total Rewards Package here at R + J.
- $135,000 - $165,000
