About the role

  • Working closely with the Manager, Communications, this role ensures events are welcoming, well-organized, respectful, and culturally appropriate for citizens, Elders, staff, and guests.
  • Helps draft, format, and distribute content that reflects YG voice, values, and cultural protocols.
  • Identifies and communicates issues, risks, or supply needs before and during events.

Responsibilities

  • The Community Engagement & Events Coordinator supports the planning, organizing, and implementation of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government community events, communications initiatives, and engagement efforts.

  • Supports the maintenance of communication calendars, distribution lists, and content archives.
  • Supports the planning and coordination of community events, meetings, workshops, and gatherings.
  • Maintains event schedules, task lists, supply lists, attendance records, and post-event reports.
  • Supports Elders, citizens, community members, and guests during events as needed.
  • Maintains organized event files, contact lists, and vendor records.
  • Tracks event-related expenses and supports reconciliation with the Communications budget.
  • Performs other related communications or event coordination duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • hitac̓u, with travel across Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ territory as required
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle (required for event-related pickups, deliveries, and travel across territory).
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up event supplies (up to 20 kg).

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ culture, language, and protocols.
  • Previous experience supporting First Nations community events or programs.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, or similar communications tools.

Compensation

  • Band 4 ($56,182 - $84,272 · $28.81 - $43.22/hr)
