About the role
- We work on the systems that move, store, transform, and serve customer data: real-time and batch ingestion, identity resolution, data import and export connectors, privacy and compliance, and the operational reliability of everything in between.
- Our stack is primarily Java and Python, running on Kafka, Temporal, DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Snowflake, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Responsibilities
- Our infrastructure teams build and operate the backend systems that power Amplitude's products at massive scale - handling more than 1 trillion events per month.
- This is a senior role, so beyond your own delivery you'll be a technical anchor for the team: leading design discussions, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar for how we build.
- Design and build highly reliable, maintainable backend services that scale with our customer base
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Drive design and code reviews
- Strong foundation in programming, algorithms, and software application design
- Ownership: We take the initiative to solve problems that drive our shared company success.
Requirements
- You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:
- 5+ years of experience working in a Software Engineering role, with 2+ years working in Java
Nice to have
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers is a plus
- Previous experience with stream processing, message queues, or data pipeline technologies (e.g. Kafka) is a plus
- Previous experience operating production systems on Kubernetes or running infrastructure as code with Terraform is a plus
Compensation
- $183,000 - $267,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
- Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in California outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. California salary range: $165,000 - $247,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
- Based on legislation in Washington state, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in Washington state. Washington salary range: $165,000 - $247,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
- $183,000 - $276,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
