  • JOB PURPOSE: Pomona is seeking highly qualified candidates for the positions of Assistant Dean (Sophomore Class Dean).

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to students in addressing personal issues that may be a barrier to academic success; refer students to appropriate campus and community resources.
  • Monitor student academic progress, document, and establish systems for student support - including students on academic probation, suspension and other students of concern.
  • Provide appropriate interventions and referrals to support resources.
  • Analyze information and build data-driven processes to improved procedures and protocols to encourage persistence, retention, and student success.
  • Maintain case files and confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and College policy.
  • Serve on the College's behavioral intervention team to facilitate cross-campus partnerships to address students of concern and establish wraparound networks for support.

Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver's license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS: This position must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job:
  • Strong organizational skills and expertise in planning, implementing, and evaluating student services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), analytical ability, sound judgment, and the ability to handle difficult situations with sensitivity and objectivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in liberal arts is required. Master's degree in counseling, social work, student development or related field is highly preferred.

  • Operate computers proficiently with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Outlook) and associated professional software. Use assigned technology/devices/ equipment to achieve annual goals and maintain confidentiality.
  • Prioritize and perform multiple projects, meet timelines, respond to others in a timely manner, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College with a high standard of integrity and ethics, in support of the College's strategic vision and the department's annual goals.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts is required.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, student development or related field is highly preferred.

  • Operate the College's vehicles safely for campus-related work and meet all insurance-related requirements.
  • REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
  • Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.

Benefits

  • The rate for this role is between $73,000 to $85,000 with a competitive benefits package.
  • The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
  • The College expects that employees hired for this position can perform the essential functions of this job without imposing risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of themselves or others.
