About the role
- This role oversees a team of four Product Managers responsible for Monitoring Imagery (Owl & PlanetScope), High-Resolution Imagery (Pelican & SkySat), Tanager Hyperspectral Imagery, and Mosaics & Analysis-Ready Data Products.
- This role reports to the Director of Product, Imagery & Constellation Services.
- This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the product strategy for Planet's imagery portfolio across four product lines (Monitoring, High-Res, Tanager, Mosaics/ARD)
- Maintain deep understanding of imagery customer needs, competitive landscape, and market trends
- Drive customer discovery and validation practices across the imagery PM team
- Lead imagery product planning cycles and partner with Engineering, GTM, TPM, and Space Systems to deliver results
- Establish clear success metrics, improve product development processes, and build systems that scale
- Manage and develop a team of four Product Managers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management to drive career growth

Requirements
- 6+ years in product management experience with 4+ years managing and developing Product Managers
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Track record of setting product strategy for a multi-product portfolio
- Ability to influence product strategy across teams and organizations
- Track record of delivering measurable customer and business impact
Skills
- Experience with satellite imagery, remote sensing, or geospatial products
- Understanding of how to position and differentiate products in competitive markets
- Ability to lead through influence, not just authority
- Track record of developing high-performing Product Managers
- Experience hiring, onboarding, and coaching PMs
- Commitment to building diverse, inclusive teams and culture

- Effective communication
- can communicate effectively up, down, and sideways
- Power user of satellite imagery
- Background in markets Planet serves (government, defense, agriculture, energy, etc.)
- Familiarity with data products, APIs, and platform businesses
Compensation
- The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below.
- The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.

- San Francisco Salary Range
- $182,900 - $228,600 USD
