About the role
- The Forklift Operator I at the river terminal is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and store cargo at the terminal.
- This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth terminal operations, ensuring timely processing of goods, and adhering to safety protocols.
- Knowledge & Skills: - Operate up to a 16k forklift Physical activities that are essential to daily functions include but are not limited to: 1) regularly lifting loads up to 50lbs unassisted and occasionally up to 75lbs.
Requirements
- Degree Required: High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification Required: Yes
- Shift work may be required, including weekends or holidays, depending on the operation schedule.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
Nice to have
- Years of Experience Required: Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or terminal environment is a plus.

Skills
- Operate up to a 16k forklift
- 2) Climbing of ladders over 20' of vertical height while using fall protection.
- 3) Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling and reaching.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic math and communication skills.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, if necessary.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and moving of materials.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time.
- Education & Experience Preferences/
- Safely operating up to a 16k a forklift to move and stack cargo, containers, and goods in the terminal yard.
- Assisting in the loading and unloading of cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail cars.
