About the role

The Forklift Operator I at the river terminal is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and store cargo at the terminal.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining smooth terminal operations, ensuring timely processing of goods, and adhering to safety protocols.
Knowledge & Skills: - Operate up to a 16k forklift Physical activities that are essential to daily functions include but are not limited to: 1) regularly lifting loads up to 50lbs unassisted and occasionally up to 75lbs.

Degree Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Certification Required: Yes
Shift work may be required, including weekends or holidays, depending on the operation schedule.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety vests, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Years of Experience Required: Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or terminal environment is a plus.

2) Climbing of ladders over 20' of vertical height while using fall protection.
3) Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling and reaching.
Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow instructions.
Basic math and communication skills.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, if necessary.
Frequent lifting, bending, and moving of materials.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
Ability to stand, walk, and work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time.
Education & Experience Preferences/
Safely operating up to a 16k a forklift to move and stack cargo, containers, and goods in the terminal yard.
Assisting in the loading and unloading of cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail cars.
