About the role

  • This position is responsible for transforming raw video elements into course video materials that are engaging, professional, and aligned with educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with instructional designers to understand course objectives and ensure edited videos meet course needs
  • Manage file organization, version control, and export videos in various formats suitable for D2L

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Camtasia software (or similar video editing tools like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro, with willingness to adapt to Camtasia)
  • The physical and mental demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to communicate in English, orally and/or in writing
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and recall instructions and guidelines
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Ability to do repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers

Nice to have

  • Strong understanding of video production principles, including pacing, visual storytelling, and multimedia integration
  • Proficiency in basic audio editing and graphic elements
  • Experience editing content for academic or training purposes, such as online courses or webinars
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices in digital media (e.g., WCAG guidelines)
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical team members
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented and timely video editing production is the key responsibility of this position.
