About the role
- This position is responsible for transforming raw video elements into course video materials that are engaging, professional, and aligned with educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with instructional designers to understand course objectives and ensure edited videos meet course needs
- Manage file organization, version control, and export videos in various formats suitable for D2L
Requirements
- Proven experience with Camtasia software (or similar video editing tools like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro, with willingness to adapt to Camtasia)
- The physical and mental demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to communicate in English, orally and/or in writing
- Ability to read, comprehend, and recall instructions and guidelines
- Ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Ability to do repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Nice to have
- Strong understanding of video production principles, including pacing, visual storytelling, and multimedia integration
- Proficiency in basic audio editing and graphic elements
- Experience editing content for academic or training purposes, such as online courses or webinars
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices in digital media (e.g., WCAG guidelines)
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical team members
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Detail-oriented and timely video editing production is the key responsibility of this position.
