About the role

  • PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS BASED IN GRASSY NARROWS AND KENORA ON.
  • ONE-TO-ONE WORKER (Casual/Relief) GENERAL DESCRIPTION The One-to-One Worker is a casual/relief program position.
  • The One-to-One Worker is responsible for the direct supervision of high risk and special needs children.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and Regulations;
  • Sound knowledge of Customary Care and the philosophy of service development and delivery
  • Working knowledge of the administrative structure and operations of Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services including the service delivery model, policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Ability to take direction and work within the philosophy, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management;
  • Ability to provide structured activities, light housekeeping duties, and meal preparation;
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed case notes with respect to date data and situations;
  • Ability to work shift work and report to work on short notice in relation to service requirements;
  • High School Diploma with one year direct related experience. However, a combination of skills, education and experience may be considered
  • the communities and family structure, as well as local First Nation customs and traditions
  • Strong commitment to help Anishinaabe children and their families by providing services in ways that respect Anishinaabe cultural and spiritual practices
  • Commitment to provide services in the Anishinaabe context of extended family and community involvement
  • Committed to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with children, staff, and management
  • Experience working with high risk and special needs children with a demonstrated ability to interact with children, and establish and maintain a trusting relationship

Nice to have

  • Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.
