About the role
- Job Description DPR Construction is seeking a Junior Estimator with at least 2 years of commercial construction experience.
- Estimators will work primarily on negotiated commercial projects within our core markets.
- DPR Construction is a forward-thinking, self-performing general contractor specializing in technically complex and sustainable projects for the advanced technology, life sciences, healthcare, higher education and commercial markets.
Requirements
- Ability to work both as a team player and independently.
- Ability to understand and navigate architectural and structural drawings.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
- 2+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within DPR's Core Market projects.
- We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess:
- Computer competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prolog preferred.
- Effective participation in team environment.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Estimating software (OnScreen Takeoff or similar), Project Management software (Prolog or similar), and Scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
- Bachelor's degree a plus but not required.
- A strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude.
- This position is salaried.

Nice to have
- Must have experience being a member of the team involved in Request for Proposal Responses (RFP's) and the formal presentation for a project.
- Coordinate activities of the team from bid to proposal.
Skills
- Ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.
- Contact suppliers and vendors to discuss various requests and due dates.
- Effectively and efficiently handle subcontractor requests.
- Prepare and distribute time-sensitive materials.
- Provide a consistent customer service experience with subs and vendors.
- Experience writing and negotiating subcontracts.
- Additional Experience (preferred but not required)
- Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.
- The successful candidate will possess:
- Excellent listening skills and have strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
