About the role
- Biogen is seeking a seasoned BD Counsel to become a vital contributor to our dynamic legal team.
- Reporting directly to the Chief Corporation Counsel, this position is based at our headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
- The individual stepping into this role will be at the forefront of complex deal work, pivotal to the company's strategic expansions and product pipeline development.
Responsibilities
- Lead legal due diligence for strategic transactions, offering critical counsel on transaction structures and business terms.
- Collaborate with colleagues across various functional areas, including business development, finance, tax, R&D, and commercial teams.
- Manage and optimize the engagement and performance of outside law firms on strategic matters.
- Provide ongoing legal advice and support to internal clients within the business development area and other departments.
Requirements
- You are a strategic thinker with an impressive track record in corporate law, possessing the intellectual prowess and business acumen necessary to navigate complex legal landscapes.
- Your decisiveness and intuition for making sound judgments are matched by your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Required Skills:
Skills
- Minimum of 12 years' experience in the corporate department of a leading law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department.
- Demonstrated experience with mergers and acquisitions, collaborations, consortiums, venture capital transactions, and license agreements.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree with active bar licensure
- Exceptional intellectual capacity and business counseling presence.
- Strong decision-making intuition and communication skills.

- The base compensation range for this role is: $221,000.00-$304,000.00
