Ciena is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Routing/IP Software Development team.

This role involves contributing to the design, development, and testing of software for advanced routing and IP solutions within Ciena's network products.
Collaborate with experienced engineers to design, implement, and debug software for routing protocols (e.g., Segment Routing, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS) and IP functionalities.
Support implementation and testing of Segment Routing features, including SR-MPLS and SRv6, with focus on scale, resiliency, and traffic engineering.
Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network topologies.
Familiarity with software development tools (e.g., Git, debuggers).
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of Ethernet services, IPv4/IPv6, EVPN, TiLFA, or other transport protocols.
Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.

Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Troubleshoot and debug routing protocol and service issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
Document design specifications, test plans, and software functionalities.
Research and evaluate new technologies and industry standards related to routing and IP.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the software development lifecycle.
Strong programming skills in C and Python
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
