  • JOB PURPOSE: The Assistant Coach for Men's Soccer assists the Head Coach in all aspects of running the Men's Soccer program.

Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver's license is required or an equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.
  • The Assistant Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Pomona College, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), and the NCAA Division III.
  • It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to this position.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required.
  • Appropriate certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, or willingness to complete certifications upon hire if working independently with student-athletes.
  • Operate computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and associated professional software (such as Internet research and menu-driven databases). Demonstrate understanding of the use of equipment in assessing and improving department systems and processes to achieve annual goals and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate effective, accurate, and clear communication with excellent/strong verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, phone, and customer service skills. Follow all written and verbal instructions, asking questions as needed for clarification of duties.
  • REQUIRED HOURS AND ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefit-eligible position. The hourly rate for this role is $16.90 per hour, 15-20 hours per week, depending on the competitive season. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to, education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.

Nice to have

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a coach at the collegiate or professional level of athletics.
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in the recruitment of academically focused scholar-athletes is preferred.

  • Strong administrative, interpersonal skills, and computer/technology skills.
  • Use strong organizational and time management skills to complete work with accuracy and keen attention to detail.
