About the role
- As an SSDS Legacy Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and sustaining the U.S. Navy's Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) legacy configurations supporting operational and test environments.
- This position is ideal for experienced maintenance professionals who enjoy solving technical challenges in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment where system availability and operational excellence are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Perform organizational-level corrective and preventive maintenance on SSDS legacy systems and associated equipment.
- Monitor and manage operation of SSDS legacy configurations to ensure continuous mission capability.
- Document maintenance actions, discrepancies, repairs, and system status using approved Navy maintenance processes and records.
- Support system operational testing, validation, and troubleshooting during maintenance periods and mission operations.
- Collaborate with government personnel, engineers, logistics teams, and other technicians to resolve complex technical issues.
- Primarily local support at the customer site with occasional CONUS travel for training, technical meetings, or program support.
- You will assess system performance, diagnose complex hardware and software issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure systems remain fully operational to support mission execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related field.
- Four (4) additional years of directly related demonstrated SSDS maintenance experience may be substituted for the required degree.
- Relevant technical certifications are desirable but not required.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Secret clearance required
Nice to have
- Active Top Secret clearance preferred
Skills
- Demonstrated experience performing documented organizational-level maintenance on SSDS legacy configurations.
- Experience diagnosing complex hardware, software, and system integration issues within tactical combat systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute technical manuals, engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, and system documentation.
- Experience documenting maintenance activities and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience supporting U.S. Navy surface combat systems.
- Experience supporting Aegis, SSDS Mk 1/Mk 2, or other Navy combat systems.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance programs, configuration management, and technical documentation processes.
- Experience supporting system integration, operational testing, or developmental testing activities.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
