About the role

  • This is a 24-hour direct patient care unit with 6 private patient rooms.
  • Patients admitted to the PICU are likely to be those with acute medical disease states.
  • Our patients range in age from newborn to 19 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a plan of care (including goals) that is reviewed and revised on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops, reviews, and implements the discharge plan upon admission, and throughout the patient stay.
  • Performs point-of-care lab testing as per established policies and procedures.
  • This includes patients with invasive monitoring (arterial lines, ICP monitoring, EVD monitoring), surgical drains/chest tubes, invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, tracheostomies with vent support, vasopressor requirement (epinephrine, dopamine, vasopressin), and/or continuous sedation requirement (versed, fentanyl, precedex etc).

Requirements

  • Registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.
  • Minimum of two years of critical care experience within the last five years required.
  • CPR (BLS) certification required.
  • ACLS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.
  • PALS certified within six months of transfer or hire required.

Nice to have

  • B achelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Pediatric Critical Care preferred.
