About the role
- We're a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things.
- Your Impact: Software is at the center of our product development, as it bridges the transition from digital models to beautiful physical form in 3D printing.
- We have custom tools that allow our engineers to study and improve printer performance, as well as for calibration, manufacturing, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced software tools to support calibration, validation, and rigorous testing of electromechanical and robotic systems across our product lines.
- Perform hardware modifications to printers and test setups to facilitate experimental processes.
- Own the full lifecycle of the test tools ecosystem, including design, validation, documentation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- As a python software intern, you'll work at the intersection of hardware and software, developing critical functionality that enables us to build the best professional 3D printers on the market.

- Manage requirements and set expectations with cross-functional teams-including hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers-to deliver testing solutions successfully and on time.
- Experienced developing applications using Python, SQL and Linux
- Ready to take features from initial concept through design and implementation
- Help us build an inclusive community that will change the face of 3D printing.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of software integration with embedded systems and engineering of complex electromechanical systems
- Experience with robotics and Linux

- experience working in manufacturing
Compensation
- Interns at Formlabs are paid on a bi-weekly pay schedule.
- The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization.
- The bi-weekly pay range for this role is:
- $1,850 - $2,200 USD
