About the role

  • The Controller is responsible for leading all financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, period-end close activities, tax-related and audit interactions across multiple subsidiaries under the Bedrock Manufacturing platform (including Shinola and Filson ).
  • This role directly oversees the Accounting Manager and their team, the AP/AR Manager and specialists, the Cost Accountant, and partners with an external group for Tax. The Controller will collaborate closely with the CFO and with other senior leaders across both brands to ensure accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment of all financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Payroll, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Partner with Bedrock Manufacturing Corporation to document, enhance, and standardize processes and approval workflows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax planning, and internal controls.
  • Proven success operating in consumer products, retail, or omni-channel businesses.
  • Employee may be required to perform other duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing finance and accounting teams in a multi-entity or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to influence and partner cross-functionally.
  • Integrity, honesty, and a high ethical standard are essential.
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and drive to achieve results.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • master's degree or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience with Shopify, 3PL, DataLake, Azure, or Power BI a plus.
